EPFO is allowing employees to update their personal details
Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) made it easier for staff members to self-correct personal information on January 18, 2025.
Employees can now self-correct birth date, gender, nationality, parent's name, marital status, spouse's name, joining date, and leaving date.
The employee can make these modifications independently without the need for employer or EPFO approval.
It requires workers to submit an online request and accompanying documentation to correct employer-made errors.
Employer involvement is no longer required for EPF members who have connected their Universal Account Number to Aadhaar.
Around 27% of EPFO complaints are related to member profile and KYC concerns, causing burdens for both employers and EPFO.
EPFO 2.0 and 3.0 are system updates, aiming to align the EPFO system with the banking system.
