Selection Process
The BSSC Inter Level Recruitment for the year 2023 involves a structured selection procedure comprising the following phases:
- Preliminary Written Examination
- Main Written Examination

Eligibility Criteria
Before applying for the Bihar Inter Level Vacancy 2023, candidates must ensure that they fulfill the eligibility criteria set by the Board. The eligibility criteria is as follows
Age
The age limit for this recruitment is 18 to 37 Years. The crucial date for the calculation of the age is August 1, 2023. The age relaxation will be given as per the rules of the government.
Qualification
Candidates must have passed the 12th class (10+2) or equivalent examination from a recognised university or board. However, for some posts in various departments, candidates must have Computer Typing knowledge along with intermediate (12th class). For the post of Filariasis Inspector in the Health Department, the candidate must have passed intermediate (10+2) in science subject.
Syllabus & Exam Pattern
Candidates preparing for the BSSC Inter-Level Recruitment Exam must be aware of the selection process if they want to secure a post in this examination. A preliminary examination will be conducted if more than 40,000 applications are received. If the requirements are met, the BSSC Inter Level Exam 2023 will be conducted in three stages: preliminary and mains written examination, followed by a document verification process.
Prelims Exam
Preliminary Examination In the preliminary examination, there will be one paper on General Knowledge, which will have the following topics.
- General Studies.
- General Science and Mathematics
- Mental Ability Test (Comprehension/Logic/Reasoning/Mental Ability)
The prelims exam will be conducted only in English and Hindi medium. The exam will consist of multiple-choice questions. The total number of such questions will be 150. Candidates will be given a duration of 2 hours 15 minutes to attempt it.
Valuation
Each question carries 4 marks. For every wrong answer attempted there is a negative marking scheme of 1 mark.

Mains Exam
Candidates equal to 5 (five) times the number of vacancies available through the preliminary examination will be carried forward to the main examination. Advertisements will be published separately for the main examination.

Syllabus The preliminary exam syllabus is as follows
Section (A)
- General Studies- The objective of the questions in this will be to test the candidate's general knowledge of the surrounding environment and his/her ability in relation to its application in society. In this, questions can be asked specifically regarding Bihar, India and its neighbouring countries.
- Current Affairs- Scientific Progress, National/International Awards, Indian Languages, Book, Script, Capital, Currency, Sports personalities, and other important events.
- India and its neighbouring countries- History of neighbouring countries, History of India, Culture, Geography, Economic Scenario, Freedom Movement, Main Features of Indian Agriculture and Natural Resources, Constitution and Polity of India, Political System of the Country, Panchayats Raj, Community development, Five-Year Plan and National Contribution of Bihar in the movement.
Section (B)
- General Science and Mathematics- In this, questions can generally be asked from the following subjects of metric level (10th level)
- General Science- Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography.
- Mathematics- Questions related to the number system, computation of whole numbers, decimal and fraction numbers, relation between numbers, basic numerical mathematical operations, percentage, ratio and proportion, average, interest, and profit and loss.
Section (C)
- Mental Ability Test- In this both verbal and non-verbal questions can be asked. This component has the following
- As many questions as possible can be asked related to – analogy, similarity and difference, space and imagination, problem-solving, analysis, visualization memory, discrimination, observation, relationship, concept of numbers, mathematical reasoning, numbers, mathematical number series, coding, and decoding.
