The RPF Constable examination is organized by the Ministry of Railways to recruit Constables (Executive) across different zones of Indian Railways. The selection process for RPF SI Vacancy 2026 includes the following stages:

Educational Qualification

The candidates must possess a 10th Class/SSC qualification from a recognized education board.

Age Limit

The age limit as prescribed by the Railway Recruitment board is 2026-27 is 18-28 years. The minimum age limit is 18, whereas the maximum is 23 years. ST/SC/OBC/PH candidates will have further age relaxations which they can find in their examination form.

Syllabus & Exam Pattern

The following is the RPF Exam Pattern 2026 

Negative Marking: 1/3rd Marks will be deducted for a question attempted wrong by a candidate. No marks will be deducted for any question left unanswered.

Time Duration: The time given to complete the Computer Based Test is 90 minutes (1 hour 30 minutes).

No. of Questions- In total, there will be 120 Questions in the RPF CBT Exam wherein 50 questions from General Awareness, 35 questions from Arithmetic, and 35 questions from General Intelligence and Reasoning.

Type of Questions- The questions will be Objective Type/Multiple Choice Questions. 

Mode of Exam- The CBT Exam for RPF Recruitment 2026 will be conducted in online mode.

Document Verification

• Based on the performance of candidates in the CBT and subject to their qualifying in PET & PMT, candidates shall be considered for Document Verification.
• Candidates from SC, ST, OBC-NCL & EWS selected purely on merit, without availing any relaxation available to them, shall be counted against UR vacancies.
• In cases of two or more candidates securing same marks, their merit position shall be determined by age criteria i.e. older person shall be given higher seniority.
•  In case the date of birth also happens to be the same they will be placed in ascending alphabetical order (a to z).
• Appointment of selected candidates is subject to their passing requisite Medical Fitness Test to be conducted by the Railway Administration, final verification of educational and category certificates, verification of character and antecedents of the candidates from the local Administration and successful completion of initial training.
• Candidates may please note that Recruitment Committee only recommends names of the empanelled candidates and appointment is offered ONLY by the respective Zones/RPSF.
• Candidates who do not appear for Document Verification will not be considered in the final selection, irrespective of their performance in CBT and PET/PMT.
•  Candidates shortlisted for DV will have to submit all their original documents along with two sets of self-attested photocopies at the time of DV.

The RPF exam consists of three subjects Basic Arithmetic, General Intelligence and Reasoning and General Awareness. The questions asked in RPF SI Exam 2026 will be of Graduation level, so candidates need to prepare for the examination accordingly.
