The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has announced the 2024 Junior Hindi Translator (JHT) recruitment, offering 312 vacancies across various Ministries, Departments, and Organizations of the Government of India. Aspiring candidates can submit their applications from August 2 - August 25, 2024. The selection process comprises a Computer-Based Objective Test, a Descriptive Test, Document Verification, and a Medical Examination.

Selection Process

The Selection process for the SSC JHT Examination 2024 is as follows:-

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification- The candidates appearing for this examination should have the following educational qualifications. Candidates who want to join for postcodes ‘A’ to ‘C’(Junior Hindi Translator/Junior Translation Officer/Junior Translator must fulfill any one of the following educational qualifications given below _

  1. Master’s degree in Hindi with English as a compulsory or elective subject or as the medium of examination at the degree level OR
  2. Master’s degree in English with Hindi as a compulsory or elective subject or as the medium of examination OR
  3. Master’s degree in any subject other than Hindi or English with Hindi medium and English as a compulsory or elective subject or as the medium of an examination OR
  4. Master’s degree in any subject other than Hindi or English, with English medium and Hindi as a compulsory or elective subject or as the medium of examination at the degree level  OR
  5. Master’s degree in any subject other than Hindi or English, with Hindi and English as compulsory or elective subjects or either of the two as a medium of examination and the other as a compulsory or elective subject at degree level
  6. Recognized Diploma or Certificate course in translation from Hindi to English & vice versa or 2 years’ experience as a translator from Hindi to English and vice versa in Central or State Government Office, including Government of India Undertaking.

Age Limit-  The age limit for the SSC JHT Examination 2024 is a minimum of 18 years and a maximum of 40 years.  Age relaxation would be given as per government regulations.

Syllabus & Exam Pattern

  • Negative Marking- Yes there is negative marking for every wrong answer in the SSC JHT Examination 2024. 0.25 marks would be deducted for every wrong answer.
  • Time Duration- Paper 1 of the SSC JHT Examination will be conducted in 2 hours and Paper 2 will also be conducted in 2 hours.
  • No. of Questions- Paper 1 of the SSC JHT examination will have a total of 200 questions.
  • Types of Questions- Paper 1 of the SSC JHT examination will be based on objective/multiple-choice questions.
  • Mode of Exam- The SSC JHT Examination will be computer-based.
  • Qualifying Marks- The qualifying marks for paper 1 of the SSC JHT examination 2024 as prescribed by the board are as follows:- 1- UR-30%, 2- OBC/EWS-25%, 3- All other categories- 20%

Syllabus

The syllabus for Paper 1 of the SSC JHT Examination 2024 is as follows:-

  • सामान्य हिंदी- विलोम, पर्यायवाची, वाक्यांश/ मुहावरे , कहावतें, गद्यांश, हिंदी भाषा का ज्ञान।
  • GENERAL ENGLISH- Grammar, Comprehension, Sentence Completion and Structure, Vocabulary, Articles, Tenses, Spelling Test, Unseen Passages, Synonyms.

Admit Card

The SSC releases the admit card for the SSC JHT Exam on its official website. Candidates can download their admit card by following the below steps:

  • Visit the official website of SSC at https://ssc.nic.in.
  • Click on the "Admit Card" tab on the homepage.
  • Select the region from which the candidate has applied for the exam.
  • Click on the link provided for the SSC JHT admit card.
  • Enter the candidate's registration number or roll number and date of birth.
  • Click on the "Submit" button.
  • The admit card will be displayed on the screen.
  • Download and take a printout of the admit card for future reference.

Result

Once the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) declares the result for the SSC JHT examination, candidates can follow the steps below to check their results:

  • Visit the official website of the SSC - https://ssc.nic.in.
  • Click on the "Results" tab on the homepage.
  • Select the "SSC JHT” option from the drop-down menu.
  • Click on the link for the results of the SSC JHT Examination 2024 exams.
  • The result will be displayed in the form of a PDF file.
  • Use the "Ctrl+F" function to search for your roll number in the PDF file.
  • If your roll number is present in the list, you have qualified for the exam.

Cut Off

The cut-off of the SSC JHT Examination 2024 will be released with results of the same on the official website.

Answer Key

Tentative Answer Keys for the Computer Based Examination will be placed on the website of the Commission after the Examination.

  • For the answer, the Key candidate must visit the official website https://ssc.nic.in.
  • On the home page, click on the ‘SSC JHT’ tab.
  • Candidates will be redirected to a different page.
  • After clicking on the tab, candidates now need to click on the ‘ SSC JHT Answer Key’ link.
  • Applicants will now see the login page where they have to log in using their registration/roll no and password/date of birth.
  • After filling in the credentials, click on submit.
  • They will see the answer key on their screen.      
  • Candidates are advised to save and download the answer key for future reference.
