The Staff Selection Commission will hold an Open Competitive Computer Based Examination for recruitment to the posts of Stenographer Grade “C” (Group “B”, Non-Gazetted) and Stenographer Grade “D” (Group “C”) for various Ministries / Departments / Organizations in the Government of India.

Selection Process

SSC Stenographer Grades “C” & “D” have been conducted in two Stages:-

•  Computer-Based Examination (CBE) The first stage of the selection process is a computer-based test. The CBE consists of three sections: General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, and English Language & Comprehension.
• Skill Test The second stage of the selection process is a skill test. The candidates who qualify for the CBE are eligible to appear for the skill test.

Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for SSC Stenographer Grade C & D are as follows:

• Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed the 12th standard or equivalent examination from a recognized Board or University. Only those candidates who have skills in stenography are eligible to apply.
• Age Limits:- Age relaxation would be given according to the government rules.

1. Stenographer Grade – C: 18 to 30 years
2. Stenographer Grade – D: 18 to 27 years

Syllabus & Exam Pattern

• Negative Marking- There will be a negative marking of 0.25 marks for every wrong answer.
• Time Duration- The SSC Stenographer paper for Grades C and D will be conducted in 2 hours and for candidates eligible for scribe the paper will be conducted in 2 hours and 40 minutes.
• No. of Questions- The examination would consist of 200 questions.
• Types of Questions- The SSC Stenographer paper will have objective/multiple choice type questions.
• Mode of Exam: The examination will be conducted online and will be a computer-based test.
• Qualifying Marks:- The qualifying marks for the SSC Stenographer examination are as follows:-

                    UR- 30%, OBC/EWS- 25%, and All other categories- 20%.

Skill Test:

The skill test is the second and final stage of the selection process. The candidates who have qualified for the CBE are invited to take the skill test. The skill test assesses the candidate's proficiency in stenography.

Indicative Syllabus for Computer Based Mode Examination:

General Intelligence & Reasoning: It would include questions of both verbal and non-verbal type. The test will include questions on analogies, similarities and differences, space visualization, problem solving, analysis, judgment, decision making, visual memory, discriminating observation, relationship concepts, arithmetical reasoning, verbal and figure classification, arithmetical number series, non-verbal series etc. The test will also include questions designed to test the candidate’s abilities to deal with abstract ideas and symbols and their relationship, arithmetical computation and other analytical functions.

General Awareness: Questions will be designed to test the ability of the candidates general awareness of the environment around him and its application to society. Questions will also be designed to test the knowledge of current events and of such matters of everyday observation and experience in their scientific aspects as may be expected of an educated person. The test will also include questions relating to India and its neighboring countries especially pertaining to Sports, History, Culture, Geography, Economic scene, General Polity including Indian Constitution, and Scientific Research etc. These questions will be such that they do not require a special study of any discipline.

English Language & Comprehension: In addition to the testing of candidates understanding of the English Language, its vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, synonyms, antonyms and its correct usage, etc., his/ her writing ability would also be tested.

Admit Card

The SSC releases the admit card for Stenographer Grade “C” & “D” on its official website. Candidates can download their admit card by following the below steps:

• Visit the official website of SSC at https://ssc.nic.in.
• Click on the "Admit Card" tab on the homepage.
• Select the region from which the candidate has applied for the exam.
• Click on the link provided for the SSC Stenographer Grade “C” & “D” admit card.
• Enter the candidate's registration number or roll number and date of birth.
• Click on the "Submit" button.
• The admit card will be displayed on the screen.
• Download and take a printout of the admit card for future reference.
   

Result

 Once the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) declares the result for the SSC Stenographer Grade “C” & “D”  examination, candidates can follow the steps below to check their results:

• Visit the official website of the SSC - https://ssc.nic.in.
• Click on the "Results" tab on the homepage.
• Select the "Stenographer Grade C & D” option from the drop-down menu.
• Click on the link for the result of the SSC Stenographer Grade “C” & “D” exam.
• The result will be displayed in the form of a PDF file.
• Use the "Ctrl+F" function to search for your roll number in the PDF file.
• If your roll number is present in the list, you have qualified for the exam.

Cut Off

The cut-off for the SSC Stenographer Grade “C” & “D”  exam is usually released along with the result on the official website of the SSC. The cut-off is declared category-wise, i.e., for General, OBC, SC, ST, and EWS categories.
Candidates who score equal to or more than the cut-off score are considered qualified for the next stage of the selection process. Candidates must note that the cut-off score varies every year, and it is subject to change depending on the factors mentioned above.

Answer Key

Tentative Answer Keys for the Computer Based Examination will be placed on the website of the Commission after the Examination. Candidates may go through the Answer Keys and submit online representations, if any, within the time limit given by the Commission, on payment of Rs 100/- per question which is nonrefundable. Any representation regarding the Answer Keys received through the online modality within the time limit fixed by the Commission at the time of uploading of the Answer Keys will be scrutinized before finalizing the Answer Keys and the decision of the Commission in this regard will be final. Representations on the matter received through any other modalities e.g. letter, application, email, etc. will not be entertained.

• For the answer, the Key candidate must visit the official website https://ssc.nic.in.
• On the home page, click on the ‘SSC Stenographer’ tab.
• Candidates will be redirected to a different page.
• After clicking on the tab, candidates now need to click on the ‘ Stenographer Answer Key’ link.
• Applicants will now see the login page where they have to log in using their registration/roll no and password/date of birth.
• After filling in the credentials, click on submit.
• They will see the answer key on their screen.      
• Candidates are advised to save and download the answer key for future reference
