Overview

Vellore Institute of Technology Engineering Entrance Examination (VITEEE) is conducted for admission to undergraduate engineering programmes in VIT group of Institutions. VIT (Vellore Institute of Technology), established in 1984, was conferred with the status of a deemed university in 2001 by the Government of India. Today, it is counted among the most prominent and respected universities in India, featuring top-ranked academic programmes. The main campus of VIT is at Vellore. It started another campus in Chennai subsequently VIT - AP at Amaravati and VIT - Bhopal at Madhya Pradesh were started as State Private Universities later. The institution follows a student-centered culture and places the highest importance on quality and consistency in learning, teaching and research experiences.

Selection Process

Selection Process

  • Selection is based on the rank secured through CBT (Computer Based Test) VITEEE 2024.
  • Selected candidates can participate in online counselling based on their ranking. They can give options for specific campus, programme and category of fees. Allotment will be based on the rank obtained, preference given and availability during online counselling.
  • Candidates with rank Upto 1 Lakh are eligible for counselling to all the four campuses, VIT - Vellore, VIT - Chennai, VIT - AP and VIT - Bhopal. Rank holders above 1 lakh are eligible for counselling to VIT - AP and VIT - Bhopal campuses only.
  • VIT will verify the eligibility of candidates after completing the tuition fee payment on or before the stipulated date. Candidates are required to produce documents on the day of reporting to the campus or as and when asked for, by the Office of Admissions. Provisional Admission offered during counselling will be valid only if the eligibility is fulfilled.
  • The counselling process is common for VIT group of Institutions. The online counselling will be held in five phases. The rank, schedule, choice entry will be available in the counselling portal.
  • The applicants who fail to appear in their phase of counselling are eligible to appear in next phase, but limited to available choices in that phase. Applicants may select campus / programme / fee category. The allotment will be based on VITEEE Rank. Once the required fee is paid, provisional admission letter will be available in portal. Once allotted campus / programme / fee category cannot be changed.

Candidates born or/after July 2002 are eligible to apply for the exam.

Qualifying Examination of VITEEE 2025

 

General category candidates should have passed 10+2/equivalent with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/Biology with a minimum aggregate of 60% marks.

SC/ST category candidates and students hailing from Jammu and Kashmir/ Ladakh and the North Eastern

states should have passed 10+2/equivalent with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/Biology with a minimum aggregate of 50% marks.

 

Syllabus & Exam Pattern

Exam Pattern

The VITEEE 2025 exam will consist of 125 multiple-choice questions. Each question carries one mark, with no negative marking for incorrect answers. The exam is designed to assess candidates’ knowledge across various subjects.

Candidates will be able to analyse the question distribution and marking scheme before attempting the exam. This information will be provided in the test pattern.

BPCEA - Candidates taking the BPCEA in VITEEE (Biology/Physics/Chemistry/English/Aptitude) are solely eligible for B.Tech. The Bio-stream Degree courses are listed below.

  • Programme Selection: Candidates must indicate their preferred programme (MPCEA or BPCEA) during the application process.
  • Syllabus: The VITEEE syllabus primarily aligns with the State Board of Higher Secondary Education and CBSE curricula.
  • The aptitude section in VITEEE will be in addition to subjects viz. Maths or Biology, Physics, Chemistry, English and Aptitude. The number of questions for the respective sections in VITEEE will be, Maths or Biology (25 questions), Physics (25 questions), Chemistry (25 questions), Aptitude (3 questions) and English (2 questions).
  • VIT question paper will be in English only.

Duration of Test 2 hours 30 minutes will be given to complete the exam.

Law of conservation of linear momentum and its applications. Static and kinetic friction - laws of friction - rolling friction

BIOLOGY

1. Taxonomy

Need for classification, three domains of life. Linnaean, Whittaker, Bentham and Hooker systems of classification. Salient features and classification of non-chordates up to phyla levels and chordates up to class levels. Morphology and anatomy of flowering plants. Structural organisation in insects (cockroach)

2. Cell and Molecular Biology

Cell theory. Prokaryotic cell and its ultrastructure. Eukaryotic cell- cell wall, cell membrane, cytoskeleton, nucleus, chloroplast, mitochondria, endoplasmic reticulum, Golgi bodies, ribosomes, lysosomes, vacuoles and centrosomes.
