The National Testing Agency (NTA) decided to cancel the UGC-NET (University Grants Commission - National Eligibility Test) exam on June 19, 2024.
Citing concerns that the "integrity of the examination may have been compromised."
The UGC-NET was held on June 18, 2024, at 1205 exam centers across 317 cities in India, with over 11 lakh candidates participating.
The decision followed inputs from the National Cyber Crime Threat Analytics Unit of the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C), which operates under the Ministry of Home Affairs, raising questions about the exam's integrity.
UGC-NET is conducted to determine eligibility for the positions of Assistant Professor and/or Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) in Indian universities and colleges.
