Selection Process

The selection process of RRB Technician Grade I Signal and Grade III is as follows:-

  • Education Qualification- The education qualification as prescribed by the RRB for Technician Grade I Signal and Technician Grade III is as follows:-

Qualification

 Technician Grade I Signal

Bachelor’s Degree

  1. Bachelor of Science in Physics/Electronics/ Computer Science/ Information Technology/Instrumentation from a recognized University/ Institute (or) B.Sc in a combination of any sub-stream of basic stream of Physics/ Electronics/ Computer Science/ Information Technology
  2. 3 years diploma in Engineering in the above basic streams (OR) Degree in Engineering in the above basic streams or combination of any above basic streams.

Qualification

Technician Grade III

Matriculation/ SSLC

Matriculation/SSLC plus ITI from recognized institutions of NCVT/SCVT in the trade of Forger and Heat treater/ Foundryman/ Pattern Maker/Moulder (Refractory) (OR) Matriculation/SSLC plus Course Completed Act Apprenticeship in the related trades.

ITI from recognized institutions of NCVT/SCVT

  • Age Limit- The age limit as prescribed by the RRB for Technician Grade I Signal as on July 1, 2024 is as follows:-

Grade I Signal is 18 to 36 years.

Grade III is 18 to 33 years.

Age relaxation would be as per government rules.

Syllabus & Exam Pattern

  • Negative marking- Yes there is negative marking in the computer based test. For every wrong there are 1/3rd negative marking and for every unanswered question there is no negative marking.
  • Time Duration- The time duration of the CBT 1 for technician Grade I Signal is 90 minutes and the time duration of CBT II for technician Grade III is also 90 minutes.
  • No. of questions- The total number of question for CBT I and CBT II are 100 questions.
  • Type of question- The questions would be objective/multiple choice questions.
  • Mode of Exam- The RRB technician Grade I Signal and technician Grade III would be conducted online.
  • Qualifying Marks-  The qualifying marks  for technician examination of Grade I Signal and Grade III is as follows: - UR/EWS -40%, OBC- 30%, SC-30% and ST-25%.
