Every year, the Staff Selection Commission administers the SSC CHSL exam in order to fill positions in the Government of India's different Ministries, Departments, and Organizations. The Staff Selection Commission Combined Higher Secondary Level Examination is the full name of the exam. The Combined Higher Secondary Level (CHSL, 10+2) Exam is administered by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) in order to fill a number of positions, including those of Data Entry Operator (DEO), Lower Divisional Clerk (LDC)/Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA), and Data Entry Operator (Grade A). On April 8, 2024, SSC CHSL Notification 2024 was made public in an effort to fill 3712 positions for data entry operators (DEOs), junior secretariat assistants (JSAs), and lower division clerks (LDCs).

The SSC CHSL (Combined Higher Secondary Level) selection process consists of three stages - Tier 1 and Tier 2 and Document Verfication. Here is a detailed explanation of the selection process:
Educational Qualifications: - Candidates must have passed 12th Standard or equivalent examination from a recognized Board or University.
Age Limit: - As on August 1, 2024, the candidates must be between 18-27 years of age and should not be born before August 2, 1997 and not later than August 8, 2006.

Quantitative Aptitude:

Questions are also designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matters of everyday observation and experience in their scientific aspect as may be expected of an educated person. The test will also include questions relating to India and its neighboring countries especially pertaining to History, Culture, Geography, Economic Scene, General policy and scientific research.

Part A - Skill Test for the post of DEO/ DEO Grade 'A’ in Department:The ‘speed of 15000 (Fifteen Thousand) Key Depressions per hour on Computer’ will be adjudged on the basis of the correct entry of words/ key depressions as per the given passage. The duration of the Test will be 15 (Fifteen) minutes and printed matter in English containing about 3700-4000 key-depressions would be given to each candidate who would enter the same in the Computer. The passage to be entered in the Computer may also be displayed on the computer screen.
Part B – Skill Test for the post of DEO/DEO grade ‘A’ except in department: ‘Data Entry Speed of 8000(Eight Thousand) Key Depression per hour on Computer’ will be adjudged on the basis of the correct entry of words/ key depression as per the given passage. The duration of the Test will be 15 (Fifteen) minutes and Printed matter in English containing about 2000-2200 key-depressions would be given to each candidate who would enter the same in the Computer. The passage to be entered in the Computer may also be displayed on the computer screen.
Part C - Typing Test for other posts i.e. LDC/ JSA:The medium of Typing Test will be Hindi or English. The candidates will have to opt for the medium of Typing Test (i.e. either Hindi or English) in the online Application Form.Candidates opting for English medium should have typing speed of 35 words per minute (w.p.m.) and those opting for Hindi medium should have typing speed of 30 words per minute (w.p.m.). 35 w.p.m. and 30 w.p.m. correspond to about 10500 key depressions per hour and about 9000 key depressions per hour respectively.The speed will be adjudged on the accuracy of typing on the Computer of a given text passage in 10 minutes.

Tentative Answer Keys of the Computer Based Examination will be placed on the website of the Commission after the Examination. Candidates may go through the Answer Keys and submit online representations, if any, within the time limit given by the Commission, on payment of Rs 100/- per question. Any representation regarding the Answer Keys received through the online modality within the time limit fixed by the Commission at the time of uploading of the Answer Keys will be scrutinized before finalizing the Answer Keys and the decision of the Commission in this regard will be final. Representations on the matter received through any other modalities e.g. letter, application, email, etc. will not be entertained.
What is the application fee for the SSC CHSL exam?
The application fee for the SSC CHSL exam is Rs. 100 for General and OBC candidates. However, candidates belonging to SC/ST/PWD/Women/Ex-Servicemen categories are exempted from paying the application fee.
I have 50% marks in Class 12. Can I apply for SSC CHSL Exam?
The commission has not notified any minimum limit on the number of marks to be secured by candidates to be eligible for SSC CHSL Exam. Candidates should only ensure that they clear class 12. The percentage does not matter.
What is the time required to prepare for SSC CHSL Exam?
SSC CHSL required 4-5 months of serious preparation which includes 6-7 hours of studying on a daily basis.
When is the notice/ advertisement of an Examination issued?
Tentative dates of issue of Notices of different Examinations are given in the Annual Calendar of Examinations. It is therefore advised to regularly visit the website of the Commission for latest updates.
Is Registration mandatory for applying to the examinations of the Commission?
Yes, One-Time Registration with the Commission is a mandatory prerequisite. On completion of One-Time Registration, candidates can apply online for any examination of the Commission.
