Selection Process

The SSC CPO 2024 selection is done in four different stages. These are: -

  • Paper-I (Computer Based Test)
  • Physical Standard Test (PST), Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
  • Paper-II (Computer Based Test)
  • Detailed Medical Examination (DME)

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification: -The candidates must have a Graduation degree in any stream from any recognized university or equivalent.

Age Limit: - The age limit for the posts is 20-25 years as on 1.08.2024. Candidate must have been born not earlier than 02.08.1999 and not later than 01.08.2004 to be eligible to apply. The age relaxation is given to the reserved category as per the government rules.

Syllabus & Exam Pattern

  • Negative Marking- Yes there is negative marking in paper I and paper II. For every wrong answer 0.25 marks would be deducted and no marks would be deducted for any unattempted question.
  • Time Duration- Paper I and Paper II would be conducted for duration of 2 hours.
  • No. of questions There will be a total number 200 questions in both paper I and paper II.
  • Type of question- The questions would be objective multiple-choice type questions. It will be conducted in bilingual language that is Hindi and English in three parts Part I, II and III.
  • Mode of Exam- Paper I and II would be conducted in online mode, i.e; it will be a computer-based test.
  • Qualifying Marks- The qualifying marks for paper I for the Unreserved is 30%, for OBC and EWS is 25% and all other categories is 20%. For the candidates who hold NCC certificates are:

Physical Endurance Test (PET)

For Male Candidates

  • 100 metre race in 16 seconds
  • 1.6 km race in 6.5 minutes
  • Long Jump: 3.65 metre in 3 chances
  • High Jump: 1.2 metre in 3 chances
  • Shot put (16 Lbs): 4.5 metre in 3 chances

For Female Candidates

  • 100 metre race in 18 seconds
  • 800 metre race in 4 minutes
  • Long Jump: 2.7 metre in 3 chances
  • High Jump: 0.9 metre in 3 chances

Medical Examination

  • All the candidates who qualify in Paper-II will be medically examined by the Medical Officer of the CAPFs or any other Medical Officer or Assistant Surgeon belonging to Grade-I of any Central/ State Govt. Hospital or Dispensary. Review Medical Examination (RME) of the candidates, who are found to be unfit during Detailed Medical Examination (DME), will be conducted in continuation of DME preferably on the next day of DME. Decision of Re-Medical Board/Review Medical Board will be final and no appeal/representation against the decision of the Re-Medical Board/Review Medical Board will be entertained.
  • Eye sight: The minimum near vision should be N6 (better eye) and N9 (worse eye). The minimum distant vision should be 6/6 (better eye) and 6/9 (worse eye) of both eyes without any correction like wearing glasses or surgery of any kind to improve visual acuity. In right handed person, the right eye is better eye and vice versa.
  • The candidate must not have knock knee, flat foot, varicose vein or squint in eyes and they should possess high colour vision.
  • They must be in good mental and bodily health and free from any physical defect likely to interfere with the efficient performance of the duties.
  •  Candidates selected for the posts of Sub –Inspector would have to pass seven obstacles as a part of training curriculum as mentioned below: -

  •  Jumping on the Horizontal Board

Preparation Tips

  • Make Study Schedule: -As per their capabilities and the SSC CPO exam pattern and syllabus, applicants must make a proper study plan to prepare for the exam. This timetable should be prepared on the basis of the positives and negatives of the applicant and cover all aspects of the SSC CPO recruitment process.
  • Study Regularly: - Aspirants must develop a habit of studying regularly for the SSC CPO exam. They must follow the SSC CPO preparation strategy in all spirit and letters. Candidates should develop a habit of reading the newspaper regularly as it will help them in the general awareness end English section of the examination too.
