Selection Process

The Selection process for the recruitment of UPPSC 2024 candidates would be held in three different stages. They are as follows:-

  • Preliminary Examination
  • Mains Examination
  • Interview or Personality Test

Age Limit- The age limit provided by the UPPSC 2024 for the candidates is between 21 to 40 years on July 1, 2024. The age relaxation will be as per the government rules.

Syllabus & Exam Pattern

  • Negative marking-There is negative marking in the UPPSC 2024 Examination. For the Preliminary examination the negative marking in paper I are 0.44 and paper II is 0.66. No marks will be deducted for unattempted questions.
  • Time Duration- For the Preliminary examination the paper would be conducted in two shifts of 2 hours. And for the Mains Examination every paper would conducted for 3 hours.
  • No. of questions- For the preliminary examination Paper I (General Studies) consists of 150 questions and Paper II (CSAT) consists of 100 questions.
  • Type of question- The preliminary examination would have objective type questions/MCQs.
  • Mode of Exam- The preliminary examination would be conducted in offline mode and will be bilingual language, i.e., Hindi and English. The Mains Examination would be conducted in written format.
  • Qualifying Marks- The qualifying marks for the preliminary examination is 33%.

Preliminary Examination Syllabus

Paper I (General Studies)

  • Current developments of national and international importance: Candidates are expected to be knowledgeable about current events of national and international importance.
  • Ancient, Medieval, and Contemporary Indian History: A comprehensive grasp of the social, economic, and political facets of Indian history must to be prioritized in history classes. It is expected of candidates in the Indian National Movement to have a comprehensive understanding of the nature and characteristics of the liberation movement, the rise of nationalism, and the achievement of independence.
  • World and Indian Geography: The Physical, Social, and Economic Geographies Only a general comprehension of the subject will be required for World Geography. The physical, social, and economic geography of India will be covered in questions on geography.
  • Indian Governance and Polity: It includes information on the country's political structure, which includes Panchayati Raj and Community Development, as well as the general characteristics of Indian economic policy and Indian culture. Questions will assess understanding of these topics Rights problems, Public Policy, Panchayati Raj, Political System, Constitution etc.
  • Sustainable Development in Social and Economic: Aspects Demographics, Social Sector Initiatives, Poverty Inclusion, etc.general concerns like biodiversity, climate change, and environmental ecology that don't call for subject specialization.

Mains Examination Syllabus

Paper II

The question paper for candidates who must choose an essay will be divided into three portions. Students must choose one topic from each section and write a 700 word essay on it. The following field will serve as the basis for the essay's three sections' topics:
