  • The National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI) and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology jointly launched the BhashaNet portal, on March 21, 2024.
  • With this launch, language diversity and digital inclusivity in India will be furthered.
  •  The BhashaNet portal is made to assist developers, companies, and organizations in making their systems and applications UA-compliant.
  •  It does this by offering resources, tools, and information in support of the Universal Acceptance movement.
  • The portal wants to ensure that everyone can access and benefit from digital services, regardless of language or script, by encouraging the adoption of Universal Access (UA).

 

Operation Indravati to Rescue Indian Nationals from Haiti

  • The Indian government began Operation Indravati on March 21, 2024, as rescuing its citizens from Haiti, a Caribbean country beset by political unrest and rampant gang violence.
  • The initiative, which takes its name from India's Indravati River, is intended to protect Indian nationals in the middle of Haiti's worsening crisis.
  •  The Indravati River, which passes through the Indian states of Odisha and Chhattisgarh, is the source of the moniker "Operation Indravati."

Pakistan will get $1.1 billion from the IMF

  • Pakistan and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) have reached a staff-level agreement on March 21, 2024, for the release of $1.1 billion from a $3 billion rescue package.
  • The funds that are necessary for the indebted country to avoid a sovereign default will be disbursed prior to the current agreement's expiration on April 11, 2023.
  •  The declaration follows 5 days of discussions in Islamabad between the IMF and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's freshly elected administration.
  •  For the past 2 years, Pakistan's $350 billion economy has been severely strained, and the nation is frantically looking for financial support from bilateral and international allies.

 

A Working Arrangement for Cooperative Relations Signed by Europol and CBI

  • The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Europol sign a major Working Arrangement on March 21, 2024, strengthening their collaboration to fight transnational crime.
  • This cooperative endeavor highlights the need of international collaborations in tackling contemporary issues presented by transnational criminal organizations.
  • The Working Arrangement was signed virtually by CBI Director Praveen Sood and Europol Executive Director Catherine De Bolle.

  • NeoStand's voyage was supported by Tata Elxsi as part of their corporate social responsibility program.

3rd Edition of the North East Games 2024

  • The 3rd edition of the North East Games 2024 opened in Nagaland on March 21, 2024, with a spectacular opening ceremony held at the Regional Centre for Sporting Excellence, Sovima.
